No Gravatar Images on Your Word Press Blog? Problem Fixed…

When blogging, it is nice to see a face next to comments as it shows you that these are real people leaving these comments and not just bots. These pictures are most commonly known as Gravatars. If Gravatars are new to you, check them out here:

Gravatar.com

It’s free to sign up and they are an easy way to make your blog comments more personal by letting people see who you are.

Over the past couple of months it has really been bugging me that Gravatar images will not show up on my comments. They show up in my control panel, but not on my blog itself. I recently found solution to this blogging issue. It seems that certain Word Press templates do not offer Gravatar support in the comments area.

It is not difficult to fix, it takes literally one minute.

To explain in detail, I made a quick video for you…

How to enable Gravatar images on your Word Press Blog

Subscribe to me on YouTube

Here is the code you will need:

<?php if(function_exists(‘get_avatar’)) { echo get_avatar($comment,
’50′); } ?>

I would like to once again thank Barry Wells for encouraging me to start making videos. This video would not exist if it weren’t for him. Check out his blog at http://barry-wells.com/

Leave a comment with a link back to your site with Gravatar’s enabled using the comment luv function to show your blog off!

Enjoy your new found Gravatar’s on your blog!

  1. Hi Jeremy

Barry Wells is a very helpful guy! he is the one that helped me with my gravatar a while back, but your video is a great way to show people how to do it!

I like to see a face to the comments left on my blog it makes it more personal plus helps with the spam situation.

    Have a great day

  2. Hi Jeremy,

Well, you are becoming a right little expert on video tutorials! Nice one. :-)

I think it’s a very good idea to have gravator on your blog comments. It’s nice to see the person your talking to and makes it all alot more friendlier.

I left a comment on your first video post, the comment disappeared, so have come here to see if all goes well this time.

    Well done Jeremy

  3. Hey Jeremy, congrats on using video. I too got the kick in the butt the other day from Barry to start using video (Can you believe I’ve been online 2 years and never made a single one? LOL)

I’m going to have to start thinking of a topic for my video I guess, and stop procrastinating on it!

Thank you so much for the comment on my blog, and I’m looking forward to your posts!

    Have a great day!

  4. Hi Pauline,

It’s good to see you again!

Gravatars are a great way to personalize comments. It was just frustrating to me when I could not get them to show up on my blog.

I figured other people may be having the same issue, which is why I made the video.

    Thanks for visiting!

  5. Hi Julie,

Gravatars are great to make comments more personal in comments. Your comment on the other video post is there, I just had a little technical difficulty… =)

    Thanks for your feedback, Julie.

  6. Hi Warren,

Video is great! Topics can be anything you know how to do that you could share with someone else who may benefit from it. Even tasks that seem simple to you and I can be useful to others who may not have learned that yet.

You could even read a post or article you have written and make a video out of it. There are a lot of topics available… I am new to video marketing still, so we are in this together… =)

My suggestion is to just jump in and do it. It’s your first video, so, like mine, you may be very hard on yourself about how it turned out… I think my first one was not very good… =)

But… that’s how we learn, right?

Good luck on your first video, let me know when you make it and I’ll check it out!

    Take care,

  9. Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for the mention and link mate, much appreciated :)

You’ve created a good video here Jeremy, an alternative way to add Gravatars to our blogs without having to install additional plugins, which of course drain our resources.

I’ve added your link to the video blog challenge page now.

    Thanks Jeremy,

  11. Jeremy – way to go on your first video!! You did an awesome job!

Wow I wouldn’t have know that about how to add that bit of coding :)

I would have thought it would have been built into all the themes, but guess not!

Once again good job – you are well on your way!

    Hi Linda,

I think some themes over looked Gravatars or were made before gravatars were really used much. It is a simple addition to the site coding that could be difficult if you don’t know what to do.

Thanks for watching and for your feedback, Linda!

  12. Hey Jeremy

I’m absolutely useless with bits of code so I use the Gravatar plugin for mine because I’d probably mess it up if I did the coding myself (lol)

Its good to see you creating videos already so well done and am looking forward to many more.

    Take care
